St. Peters seeks county backing for resurfacing, intersection and multi-use path projects

Amanda Rich, director of transportation for the City of St. Peters, presented six TIP applications to the St. Charles County roadboard, describing resurfacing, intersection and multimodal projects across the city.
Rich said the McClellay Road resurfacing from McClellay to Brighter Trail is in right-of-way acquisition and would replace damaged concrete pavement, diamond grind the roadway, install pavement markers and replace sidewalk; the city proposed a 50/50 split of the remainder with the county for construction. She described a related intersection improvement project on McClellay between Jungman Road and McClellay Village Drive that would add a multi-use path on the north side, new sidewalk on the south, curb-and-gutter replacement and an eastbound right-turn lane at Harvester to relieve morning backups.
For other corridors, Rich presented split asphalt resurfacing projects (Mexico resurfacing phases 1 and 2) and a Memorial Parkway milling/overlay package near the mall that includes filling sidewalk gaps and turning-radius improvements; she noted federal funding is secured for some phases and that the city is requesting design or construction contributions from the county as appropriate.
Board members and staff asked technical and schedule questions during the presentation; Rich said the city is pursuing design-only funding where federal design grants were not sought this cycle and expects to request construction funding in later rounds as projects advance through right-of-way and planning.
County staff will review the St. Peters applications in the TIP programming cycle and follow up on exact county-share figures before any formal action by the board.
