At its Jan. 5 meeting the Covington Village Council considered and approved three resolutions.
Resolution R01-26 authorizes formal acceptance of the Miami County Budget Commission’s supplemental rate of tax for 2025. The council moved to waive the three-reading rule and then approved the resolution; the motion passed with recorded “all ayes.”
Resolution R02-26 adopts a plan under the Public Employees Deferred Compensation Program administered by the Public Employees Retirement Board to permit eligible village employees to defer compensation into the Ohio 457 plan with both traditional (pre-tax) and Roth (post-tax) options. The council waived three readings and approved the resolution by unanimous voice vote.
Resolution R03-26 authorizes the village administrator to prepare and submit an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) State Capital Improvement and/or local transportation improvement programs and to execute required contracts; it was presented as enabling an OPWC application for a US 48 utility replacement project and was approved after waiving the three-reading rule.
All three resolutions were passed during the meeting; no dissent or recorded amendments were noted in the minutes. The OPWC application deadline mentioned in the meeting minutes is Jan. 12, 2026.
