City reports progress in blight‑elimination program, demolitions completed in several phases

Staff listed specific addresses that have been demolished under the city initiative and CDBG work, including 100 Dixie Drive (units 73–80), 204 West Adam Street, 208 Wilkerson Street, 402 Geneva Highway, 501 West Adam Street and 430 Daleville Avenue. The presenter said one additional property from a prior presentation (143 South Carol) was remediated through the CDBG phase-two work.
Officials told the council they anticipate completing city initiative phase one in July 2026 and that phases two and three should finish soon afterward. For phase four properties (previously declared nuisances), staff said they are in a required 20‑day period before further action and that remediation plans are being developed. Phase five will identify roughly 15 additional structures to be addressed in the next phase.
Staff said the city will put remaining demolition packages out for bid in the next one to two weeks and emphasized continued communication with property owners throughout the abatement process. The presentation closed with staff offering to take council questions.
