River Ridge supervisor James Gilman resigns; board outlines appointment process

The River Ridge Community Development District board on Aug. 27 accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman from Seat 1, a term that extends through November 2026, and discussed steps to fill the vacancy by appointment.
Mrs. Cleo Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. The board agreed that because the vacancy will be filled by appointment rather than election, staff will notify residents of The Meadows and The Meadows’ POA manager, via an e‑blast, about the vacancy, candidate qualifications and instructions to submit a resume or letter of interest before the next meeting. The board also noted that a future appointee will be provided the Oath of Office materials and information on required ethics training and disclosure filings.
On a motion by Mr. Blumenthal, seconded by Mr. Twombly, the resignation was accepted unanimously.
Next steps
Staff will include candidate materials in the next meeting package; the board expects to consider applicants at a future meeting and will provide the selected appointee with applicable ethics and disclosure resources.
