Atchison County updates: FirstNet authorization, successful county cleanup, EMS facility plan; workshop scheduled

At the May 12 meeting the Atchison County commissioners received a set of operational updates and approvals.
IT Director Scott Howard was authorized to discuss county-authorized cell phones with FirstNet; that authorization was recorded as passed 2-0. Solid Waste Coordinator Jody Goodpasture reported the countywide 'Country Clean Up' collected approximately 68 tons of waste and that additional rolloffs and fee waivers provided significant in-kind value for participants.
Corey Scott of EMS presented a plan to create an EMS IT office by moving a wall and slightly downsizing the Emergency Operations Center at an estimated total cost of $3,500, to be split between capital improvement and IT funds. Courtney Keegan said she would lead an EMS sales-tax marketing discussion and requested commissioners remain for a workshop following the meeting.
No formal votes were recorded on the EMS facilities estimate or the solid-waste report; the FirstNet authorization and routine agenda/consent approvals were recorded as passed 2-0 earlier in the meeting.
