Rangely council approves check register, grants and multiple board appointments

At its recent meeting, the Rangely Town Council approved routine financial business, authorized a disaster-mitigation grant application for water monitoring equipment and confirmed several appointments to local boards.

The council voted to approve the August 2025 check register after members raised line-item questions about engineering work, housing maintenance payments to CF Investors, conference and meal expenses, and veterinary bills that will be reimbursed by a grant. Andy Schaefer moved to approve the register and Sean Morgan seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote.

Council also approved submitting a $20,580 grant application to the NDME Colorado Natural Disaster Mitigation Enterprise to purchase and install a tribometer (a turbidity/flow monitoring instrument) to help water staff better measure and treat post-fire water conditions. Councilmember Tim Weber moved to approve the application; Councilmember Kyle Ren seconded and the motion carried.

Appointments and confirmations were handled in a series of unanimous voice votes: Jeremy Lori, Elizabeth (Beth) Wy, Diane Seismore and Emma Baker were appointed to the Rangely Historical Preservation Board, and Jeannie Caldwell and Keely Ellis were added in advisory roles to ensure compliance with History Colorado guidelines. The council also filled vacancies on the Rangely Development Association (RDA) and Rangely Development Corporation (RDC).

Officials announced the Rare Pitch competition final presentations are scheduled for Sept. 29, 2025, an event open to the public. The council asked staff to advertise the time and location.
