Reverend Thorne accepted the proclamation and offered brief remarks. “I want to give all praises to God…we waited on the Lord and we’re able to stand here right now,” he said, thanking the mayor and the council for the recognition.
The proclamation text included local references to community events and to Mson Park as a long-time venue for commemorations. Council members did not take additional votes on the proclamation; it was presented as a ceremonial recognition on the June 15 agenda.
