Smithville R-II receives construction progress update on high school, middle school and athletic fields
District and Newkirk Novak partners reported progress on additions and interior renovations at the high school and middle school, completion of turf on the softball field, near-complete baseball field work, and poured slab for the concession stand with framing to begin next week.

Representatives from Newkirk Novak updated the Smithville R-II board on bond-funded construction work at the high school and middle school. Presenters said brickwork for the addition and steel for a canopy are in place, framing and roofing are under way, and drywall and interior finishes will begin imminently. The presenters noted wide door openings to meet accessibility standards and that interior classroom renovation work will accelerate once summer work continues.
