Councilman Kea Kafar Kerman presented a proposal for a July 18 Youth Empowerment conference at the community center running 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a program starting at 10 a.m. The event would include four panelists (church, family, education and community service), DJ Tyrie, Chef Farid providing a buffet and plaques for speakers. The councilman estimated 150–200 youth would attend and requested $4,933 to cover t‑shirts, polos, plaques, DJ and food.
