Porter County storm water manager reports 35 projects under way; highlights three capital projects

Chelsea, Porter County’s storm water program manager, told the board the department has initiated 35 projects to date, the majority maintenance work, and described three major capital improvement efforts currently underway or starting.
She said mobilization started on a subdivision improvement project near Aberdine and Sherwood Forest; the staff presentation listed substantial completion for Aug. 15 and final completion for Sept. 15. The Bridalwood subdivision ravine restoration project finished April 30, and the Hidden House subdivision phase two (drainage and pavement improvements) is out to bid with bids due the following day. Chelsea said the highway department will complete paving after stormwater infrastructure installation and that storm water will reimburse highway for installed storm infrastructure where applicable.
On site supervision, Chelsea said field inspector Tom McNav "won't be there full time" but will check the site frequently and that county staff and engineering consultants will coordinate with the contractor during critical work phases. Chelsea also said in-house projects will provide required permit documentation to the county.
