Board member Mike McFarland raised questions about who is responsible for sidewalk upkeep in Hebron during the Jan. 6 Planning & Zoning meeting, prompting a policy-focused exchange with staff and counsel.
Jennifer Huber, the village zoning attorney, and Brittany Misner, Economic & Community Development Director, both stated that residents are responsible for sidewalks in front of their homes. In response, Mr. McFarland suggested the Village consider creating a Sidewalk Maintenance Program to assist or coordinate repairs for residents who plan work on their sidewalks. He also commended the Economic & Community Development staff for the prior year’s work.
The minutes record the discussion but do not show any motion or formal directive to implement a program; the item remains a topic for future consideration and possible development by staff.
