Field Local revises five-year forecast and accepts $500,000 donation for athletic facilities

The Field Local Board of Education on May 12 approved a revised Five-Year Forecast and accepted a $500,000 donation earmarked for athletic facilities.
Treasurer Carpenter told the board the revision reflects increased revenue from a property reappraisal and a 19.4% projected increase in health-care costs for the next fiscal year; to lock in pricing, the district will accelerate a computer lab purchase of about $235,000 into the current fiscal year. Carpenter cautioned that the state budget proposal could change those assumptions.
Superintendent Heflinger announced the district received a $500,000 donation from Thomas Lohr to support redevelopment of the former Central site. The donation is designated for five tennis courts, two pickleball courts, cleared and seeded soccer practice fields and initial funding for a small concession/restroom building; Heflinger said the new courts and fields would also be open to the community.
"It is an incredibly generous donation and Mr. Lohr said he is happy to do this for us," Heflinger said during the meeting. The board accepted the donation by roll-call vote.
Next steps include incorporating the forecast revision into the district financial plan and planning site work and vendor procurement for the athletic improvements, subject to normal contracting and bidding processes.
