Residents report persistent drainage and ponding; district engineer urges study

At a July 23 meeting, resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District Board that "a week after the street drains were plugged, the drainage issues persist; water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area." She urged the board to address two drains at the Pinehurst monument and relayed a neighbor’s concern that a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 is nearly one foot above the drain and appears non-functional.
District Engineer John Baker explained the effect of the recent work: plugging the inlet stopped upstream flow into the lower system but left water without a place to go, producing what he described as "a very tiny pond in a pipe." Baker said the initial cross‑system inflow problem was addressed but recommended additional study if flooding is observed and asked that residents provide photographs or video to help staff diagnose the issue.
Board members asked whether video existed of water bubbling from the drain; Perkins said she would obtain footage and provide it to CDD staff. A board member directed staff to have the District Engineer view the drainage sites firsthand.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting to authorize immediate repairs; Mr. Baker indicated further investigation would be required to identify a remedy. The district manager and engineer will follow up with the resident‑provided documentation and report back to the board at a future meeting.
