The Town of Thunderbolt Planning & Zoning Commission on Oct. 17 tabled a petition to combine two adjacent lots at 3020 and 3024 E Victory Drive because the property owner did not provide written authorization to proceed.
Petitioner Jimmy Cribbs submitted the combine-lot request and a surveyor appeared to discuss technical details of the proposal, but commissioners said the application lacked the required owner authorization. Resident Alice Johnson spoke during public comment and opposed any contingent approval; she referenced a separate, pending variance for a Lutheran Church on Mechanics Avenue and said prospective buyers might seek approval before completing a purchase.
Commission Member Andrew Chivers moved to table the request; Commission Member John Mattingly seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Commissioners said the petition cannot move forward until the owner provides written authorization or is present to demonstrate standing.
Next steps: The petition remains tabled and must be resubmitted with proper authorization before the commission can schedule further consideration.
