Assistant IT Director Zane Kinney told the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners at an information-technology study session on Jan. 26 that public users have occasionally been unable to sign into the county’s Laserfiche document repository because the current license limits the number of concurrent users.
Mr. Kinney said Cities Digital Inc., the vendor for Laserfiche, "proposed upgrading the County's license to an unlimited concurrent user license." He told the board the purchase falls within the IT director’s signing authority but will require a budget amendment; Chairman Cory Wright voiced support for pursuing the upgrade.
Mr. Kinney also reported that the county’s HR division is looking into acquiring onboarding and offboarding modules for NeoGov to replace the intranet’s current pre-orientation and separation-of-service features. He said the modules would help prepare the county for its transition to a new public website and intranet.
On the county’s public website, Mr. Kinney said work is progressing with only minor issues and that Diagram Inc., the web developer, has been accommodating to departmental design and feature requests. IT Director Doug Fessler urged the board to consider moving the intranet platform to Microsoft SharePoint, noting that the county is "heavily invested in Microsoft’s software economy" and predicting that SharePoint would become the county’s new intranet platform.
No formal procurement action or vote occurred during the session; Mr. Kinney’s descriptions framed next steps as staff recommendations and planning. The board did not take formal action on a budget amendment during the meeting. Staff indicated they will return with any required budget amendment paperwork and implementation details.
