Board grants one-year extension for Justin Opdahl’s feedlot conditional use permit

The Planning Commission had held a public hearing on May 15, 2025 and the Board previously approved the permit on June 3, 2025. Opdahl told county staff he has been working to secure financing and does not expect construction to begin before the current permit expires June 3, 2026. Commissioner Loy Woelber moved to approve the one-year extension; Commissioner Roger Zins seconded the motion and it passed on a 5-0 roll call vote.
The extension allows the permit to remain in effect while the applicant finalizes financing and prepares to start construction. No formal conditions or amendments to the permit were recorded in the meeting minutes. Staff and the Board will monitor construction commencement against the new June 3, 2027 deadline.
