Enumclaw council adopts fee changes for parks and cemetery in Resolution 1879

The Enumclaw City Council on May 26 adopted Resolution 1879, updating several city fees affecting parks programs and cemetery services.
Parks and Recreation Director Alina Hibbs described two fee proposals: adding a lower-cost two-day-a-week option for the swim-team program (in addition to the existing three-day option) to provide a more affordable alternative for participants, and a set of cemetery fee adjustments due to rising operations and maintenance costs and declining lot availability. "Our 3 day a week program is $276 for 3 days a week. We're, recommending a 2 day a week option at $2.25," Hibbs said in presenting the aquatic center change and noted staff recommended approval.
Chris (staff) explained an automatic 3.1% adjustment to the city school impact fee based on CPI for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area and said the paperwork was being updated to match fees already implemented on April 1. Council discussed questions from the district about the timing and agreed to evaluate the district's capital facilities plan before considering deviations from prior policy.
Council moved and approved Resolution 1879 during the meeting. Staff said cemetery-board scheduling constraints meant the fee proposal was presented directly to full council to avoid delaying vendor Weeks Funeral Home's pricing adjustments.
Next steps: staff will implement the fee updates and coordinate with the school district on any future adjustments tied to the capital facilities plan.
