Dallas County updates pay plan, approves numerous payroll changes

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors on June 16 approved a series of payroll change notices, hired a part‑time Conservation outreach coordinator and adopted an updated pay‑plan policy that will use the Consumer Price Index to set annual cost‑of‑living adjustments.
Human Resources Director Beth Deardorff presented the payroll changes, which included the end of employment for a motor‑vehicle clerk and requests to fill a Motor Vehicle Specialist position with a proposed range of $23.92 to $26.42 per hour. The board also reviewed and approved pay adjustments and step changes across the Secondary Roads division and other departments. Motion to approve the payroll changes was made by Supervisor Brad Golightly and seconded by Chair Juli Helm; the board recorded all ayes and carried the motion.
Deardorff told the board the county will use third‑quarter CPI data when setting adjustments during budget season. She recommended altering the annual cost‑of‑living adjustment method to use CPI rather than a fixed percentage; the board approved the updated Pay Plan Policy on Golightly’s motion, Helm’s second and a unanimous vote.
The board also received and filed a Conservation request to hire Kim Anderson as a part‑time outreach coordinator at $28.86 per hour, effective June 17, 2026, and approved the request.
