Savannah posts multiple openings on city boards; applicant lists published

The City of Savannah published a public listing of vacancies and expired terms for multiple city boards and commissions on Oct. 3, 2024, including the Historic District Board of Review, the Hospital Authority of Savannah, Keep Savannah Beautiful, the Pilotage Commission, the Savannah–Chatham Council on Disability Issues and the Traffic Calming Committee.

The notice sets out minimum qualifications and term lengths for each body and names applicants who have filed for consideration. For the Historic District Board of Review, which requires members to reside within Savannah city limits and carries a three-year term, the listing records 11 applications including Michael C. Johnson; Austin M. Rojas; Courtney Grunninger Bonney; Jan B. Bryant (listed as a County/Port Wentworth resident); Sharon H. OConnor (County/Thunderbolt resident); and others. The Hospital Authority of Savannah entry shows three terms expired and two applicants, Grace H. Taylor and Kristen Ravenel, with a four-year term and residency rules for participating-unit members.

Keep Savannah Beautiful is shown with four vacancies and eight applicants, and the notice reiterates the board's preference for representatives from the news media, businesses, city government, civic associations and neighborhood groups. The Pilotage Commission entry lists a seven-year term requirement and a single application from Capt. Lux Lakshman; the item notes appointees should be familiar with marine shipping and Port of Savannah operations. The Savannah—Chatham Council on Disability Issues lists four expired terms, a two-year term and bylaws that require at least half the membership be persons with disabilities; two applicants are recorded. The Traffic Calming Committee entry lists one expired and one vacant term, residency requirements, a note that a member appears to have moved out of town, and five applications on file.

The notice provides received dates and district or residency notes for many applicants but does not record which vacancies, if any, were filled at the time of publication.
