Hanover planning panel recommends I-2 rezoning, approves comprehensive-plan amendment

The Hanover Planning Commission voted 4-1 on Jan. 27 to recommend approval of a rezoning to I-2 and a companion comprehensive-plan amendment tied to an application associated with Brian Lee. Commissioner Chad Olson moved the recommendation, which Commissioner Jim Schendel seconded; Commissioner Cody Vojacek cast the lone no vote.
The commission opened a public hearing at 7:20 p.m. on the application and discussed the Maxfield study and the sequence of approvals for a comprehensive-plan amendment, rezoning, site-plan review and interim-use permits. Chair Stan Kolasa closed the hearing at 7:50 p.m. and the commission then voted to send the rezoning and amendment forward with the comments contained in staff memos.
Olson said the commission’s action responded in part to changing circumstances on the council and commission, noting “the change of circumstances is that there are new members of the Planning Commission and City Council.” The motion to recommend approval specified that staff memo comments be included in the recommendation.
The motion carried 4-1. The record shows Olson, Schendel, Kolasa and Mix voted in favor and Vojacek opposed. No formal ordinance or rezoning ordinance number was recorded in the minutes; additional hearings or council action will be required for final approval.
The commission’s recommendation advances the application to city council review and any subsequent administrative reviews required by city code for site-plan or interim-use permits.
