Select Board unanimously approves summer event permits and multiple appointments

The Select Board unanimously approved a package of municipal business on June 23, including event permits, committee appointments and personnel confirmations.
Appointments: The board voted to appoint Ed DeLuca to the Green Advisory Committee through June 30, 2027. The board approved a block of volunteer reappointments (terms ranging through 2027–2031) and several paid appointments, including Tina McAndrew as Assistant Town Administrator/Human Resources Director and Lenny Creesia as Treasurer‑Collector. Motions for appointments and reappointments were moved, seconded and recorded as unanimous.
Special events and licenses: The board approved a special event permit and entertainment license for the Stow Recreation Summer Festival planned for July 3, 2026, at Pine Bluff Recreational Area with event managers Jeff Beharel and Laura Greenow; staff confirmed required temporary food permits and the fire chief required that any open cooking fires be contained and that emergency access be preserved with no‑parking signage. The board also approved the Gold Award mural community painting day permit and entertainment license for July 18 (pending final school permission and certificate of insurance), a Lake Boone Water Carnival permit (Aug. 29) pending food permits, and the annual Bike for the Woods charity ride on Aug. 9. Organizers described routes, safety coordination and sponsors.
Animal control and program permits: The board approved the annual Animal Control warrant for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, and granted a commercial use permit to the Recreation Department to operate boating programs at Kemp Stow and the town beach for the 2026 season (the board discussed whether Lake Boone Commission approvals should be annual or perpetual and kept oversight annual).
All motions were recorded as unanimous unless otherwise noted. Select Board members encouraged event organizers to coordinate with police, fire and public‑health staff and to maintain evidence of permits on site.
