Town to coordinate with county and DNR on potential road/bridge work that could affect emergency access

A taxpayer called the meeting to flag a possible road or bridge closure near Ed's firehouse that, if implemented, could disrupt emergency response routes. The attendee said they had spent time on the phone trying to get clarity and urged the town to engage county officials and the highway engineer so emergency access would not be cut off.

Board members said they had heard similar concerns at a recent commission meeting and that any closure would require county approval. One council member suggested a proactive town resolution deeming the road an emergency access route or a letter of support to the county. "Would it hurt anything for the town to just go ahead on its own and do a resolution... deeming it as emergency access?" the council member asked.

Members agreed to raise the issue at the next commission meeting, contact the county highway engineer, consult with the fire department and EMA, and consider preparatory actions (letters or a resolution) to protect emergency access. No formal resolution was adopted at this meeting; the board directed members to pursue discussions with county officials and stakeholders this week.
