Parmer County Commissioners met June 9 in Farwell and approved routine financial and operational items while voting to extend a county burn ban and to continue the county’s TAC medical insurance plan.
The Court approved the minutes from the May 26, 2026 meeting, accepted the accounts‑payable list for June 1 and June 9 invoices presented by Treasurer Sharon May, and approved the Treasurer’s payroll report for May 29, 2026. Each of those measures passed on motions recorded in the minutes.
On emergency measures, the Court discussed local drought conditions and, despite recent rains, voted to continue the county burn ban for an additional 90 days after a motion by Commissioner Kirk Frye and a second by Commissioner Kenny White.
Judge Isabel Carrasco and Treasurer Sharon May summarized a mid‑year review from TAC Consultants showing most county medical claims were circulatory, digestive (diabetes) or musculoskeletal. Commissioners voted to continue the county’s TAC medical insurance plan after Commissioner Charles Wilkins moved for continuation and Commissioner Casey Russell seconded.
The Court reviewed the Road Hands’ CDL policy and discussed recruitment and retention challenges for CDL drivers. No policy change was agreed; the item was tabled until each commissioner can consider options.
