Planning Commission begins work on cannabinoid‑product licensing rules

Rock Creek Planning Commission members reviewed examples of liquor/cannabis ordinances and discussed draft limits: cap licenses (suggested 3), allow sales only in the Commercial District, and require buffers of 1,000 feet from schools and 500 feet from day cares, residential treatment facilities or parks used by minors.

At its July 15 meeting, the Rock Creek Planning Commission discussed the first steps toward a city ordinance to regulate cannabinoid products, using the city’s liquor‑license procedures and sample ordinances from other Minnesota cities as a template. Ashley Rauschnot explained the current liquor license process and presented examples from seven Minnesota cities for the commission’s review.
