The resolution, approved by Directors Amanda Gross, Chris Baudhuin, Walt Hautala and Kathy Undeland with no dissenting votes, instructs administration to identify programs and positions that could be discontinued or curtailed and to determine which teachers’ contracts might be terminated or who could be placed on unrequested leave of absence without pay or fringe benefits as part of any discontinuance of positions.
Director Walt Hautala moved the resolution; Director Kathy Undeland seconded. The board adopted the motion by roll call: Ayes — Gross, Baudhuin, Hautala, Undeland; Nayes — none.
The resolution frames the action as a directive to administration to make recommendations rather than as an immediate set of layoffs. It cites the district’s financial condition and an enrollment decline as the driving factors and requires administration to report back with specific recommendations that the board may act on at a future meeting.
