Wright County reports preliminary PIT surveys and highlights suicide-prevention outreach

Diane Erkens, a Wright County HHS staff member, provided the PIT update and emphasized that county-only survey completion is an early figure pending final PIT consolidation. The council discussed ongoing outreach tied to suicide prevention: Keith Bennett (HHS staff) said the Youth Mental Health Coalition is pursuing a workplan to strengthen connections between youth and caring adults, creating a contact list, exploring toolkits and curricula, and recruiting members. Bennett highlighted regional listening sessions and focus groups being held to inform the Minnesota State Suicide Prevention Plan, and he summarized panel takeaways that emphasized relational, culturally responsive approaches, earlier recognition, and coordinated follow-up.
Keith Bennett also described the Buffalo Strong Coalition’s suicide-prevention work concentrated on men ages 40–65, noting panels on Professional Support and Crisis Response and planned panels on lived experience, religion, and workforce issues. No new funding amounts or procurement details were provided for these initiatives during the meeting.
