EDA approves $12,814 for modular dock at Beach Park

The Lindstrom Economic Development Authority voted to approve $12,814 to purchase and install a four‑slip transient modular dock at Beach Park, the board was told.

Tom, a staff presenter to the EDA, told members the quote for the dock "totals $12,814" and that the system is modular and flexible, allowing the city to disassemble and reassemble it at a different shoreline if a preferred location requires more permitting work. Installation was tentatively scheduled for May 15.

Dan Freitner, speaking for staff, said shoreline and riprap at the originally considered location would require a larger permitting and shoreline project, which is why the modular addition to the existing kayak dock was proposed now with relocation possible later after fuller engineering and permitting.

Committee members asked about annual maintenance and who would handle seasonal removal. Tom said the city would contract Marine Dock and Lift to install and remove the dock; a price for removal was not provided at the meeting. "We would be contracting Marine Dock and Lift to do both the install and then the removal," Tom said.

Keith, an EDA member, raised a procedural question about payment: "I'm pretty sure we're gonna pay for this, not by credit card." Staff confirmed the purchase would not be charged to a card.

A member moved to accept funding for the dock as presented by Tom and Dan; the motion was seconded and the chair called a roll. Members recorded as voting "Aye" were Jim, Dan Freitner, Keith, Carlene and Greg. The motion carried.

Next steps: staff will finalize contracting with Marine Dock and Lift for installation and removal and return any missing cost details (for example, a removal fee) to the EDA or council as needed before or after installation.
