Comfrey council approves routine consent items, contracts and permits

The Comfrey City Council on Aug. 12 approved a slate of routine consent items, including the July 8 meeting minutes and $75,607.97 in bills, and took a series of unanimous votes on contracts and permits.
Councilor Arnsdorf moved and Councilor Evers seconded approval of the minutes. Councilor Redman moved, seconded by Councilor Kastner, to pay the total bills of $75,607.97; both motions carried unanimously.
The council adopted a resolution accepting a $25 memorial donation from the Mary Ellen Juhnke Family and a $50 donation from Steve Windschitl to the fire department (motion by Councilor Arnsdorf, second by Councilor Redman). Council also approved the August financial report (motion by Councilor Redman, second by Councilor Arnsdorf).
Among other actions, the council approved the annual Fire Relief Association SC‑25 report and noted no additional city contribution is required for 2026 (motion by Councilor Redman, second by Councilor Evers). The council granted a gambling permit to St. Paul’s Catholic Church for a Calendar Raffle scheduled for Feb. 1, 2026 (motion by Councilor Arnsdorf, second by Councilor Evers).
The meeting closed at 7:11 p.m. after the council completed its agenda and adjourned on a motion by Councilor Arnsdorf, seconded by Councilor Evers.
