EVELETH CITY — The Eveleth City Council on Feb. 17 accepted a $10,000 unrestricted donation from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for the city library and authorized staff to apply for the 2026 Literacy Bridges Community Grant (up to $25,000) to support staff training and literacy programming.
Councilors praised recent investments in the library building — including upgraded heating, cabling and lighting — and commended library staff and Friends groups for outreach. Members emphasized that the Carnegie gift is unrestricted, giving library staff flexibility to spend the funds on locally identified priorities.
Council also authorized the library director to attend the 2026 Public Library Association conference for professional development and peer networking. The council accepted the resignation of a short-term part‑time library clerk and authorized reposting the position.
