Library reports digital checkouts up more than 100% since 2021; e‑collection nears physical checkouts

At the June 24 meeting, library staff reported May circulation figures showing roughly 8,000 physical book checkouts and about 7,300 e‑collection (Cloud Library, Hoopla, Libby) checkouts.
Staff said the e‑collection has grown dramatically since a vendor integration in 2021, noting checkouts for the e‑collection have increased more than 100 percent (from roughly 500 monthly to more than 2,500 on one vendor when tracking began). Committee members observed that if the trend continues the e‑collection may soon surpass physical checkouts.
Staff also reported 678 new library cards and 861 renewals in May and confirmed that the e‑collection includes adult, teen and early‑literacy content as well as music and movies.
The committee received the report as informational; no action was taken.
