Dimmit County approves claims docket, routine reports; rescinds fence payment after road ownership clarification

Dimmit County Commissioners Court approved a series of routine reports, travel requests and a claims docket totaling $1,773,435.94 at its Jan. 5, 2026 meeting, and rescinded a prior payment for fence replacement on a non‑county road.

The court approved monthly reports from multiple offices, including constables for precincts 1 through 4, the county extension agent (Alyssa Cruz) and the Family and Consumer Health agent (Carissa Munoz). Commissioner motions carried to accept the reports as presented.

The court rescinded a prior motion to pay for a fence replacement on Diamond H Road (change order #5) after members noted the road is not county‑owned; the rescission was approved by recorded motion.

Travel requests were approved for County Judge Martha Alicia Gomez Ponce to attend mandatory E‑Grants training in Austin on Jan. 22, 2026, and for the judge and several commissioners to attend a Healthy County Boot Camp in February. The court also approved a travel request for Court Coordinator Julissa Sanchez‑Alvarado to attend a training conference in San Marcos in February.

In law‑enforcement budget matters, the court approved the purchase of training weapons from GT Distributors using the sheriff's forfeiture fund. Several items were tabled for later consideration, including an agreement with the Nueces River Authority (no funds budgeted) and a case‑status discussion with the sheriff and county attorney.

The claims docket recorded line‑item totals across county funds (General Fund $783,152.34; DC Payroll $813,456.61; and other funds) with a grand total of $1,773,435.94.
