The resident said the citation prompted his wife to research disease control and animal-keeping practices and that he would take responsibility for drafting proposed language for the council to edit. "We we got a citation for chicken," he said, adding, "I'm do all the labor for you guys." He asked the council for a list of concerns to address and time to consult neighboring towns with established ordinances.
Council members thanked the resident for offering to bring a community-driven solution and said staff would review the existing ordinance. One council member told him the board had "just looked at the ordinance this evening" and that they would "review it with Mark, see what there is" and that Mark would follow up with the resident to explain next steps. The council did not vote or take formal action on the matter at the meeting; the resident was encouraged to continue his research and coordinate with staff.
