Council approves multiple building permits and several setback variances

Council member Juel moved to approve a patio permit for Jason and Monica Long at 206 Park Avenue; Council member Stahl seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later, Amy and Travis Clark received a variance to place a shed 2 feet from their fence (4 feet from the lot line) after Mayor John White opened and closed a public hearing with no neighbor objections; Council member Stahl made the motion to approve and Council member C. White seconded.
Lauren and David Rudkin were granted a variance for a carport at 604 Main Street; the council approved the permit on the condition that the carport be firmly secured to the ground. The motion was made by Council member C. White and seconded by Council member Gibbs. Todd and Amy Clark’s permit for an addition and reattaching an existing deck at 603 2nd Avenue — which met setback requirements — was approved on a motion by Council member C. White and second by Council member Stahl.
All four permit and variance motions passed on roll call without recorded opposition. The decisions completed routine development reviews that council members described as conforming with local lot-line and safety considerations.
