Council notes withdrawn special‑use request, approves small deck permit and other routine business

During the May 13 meeting the council recorded the withdrawal of a special‑use permit application from Kiley Gravish, who had sought permission to operate licensed massage therapy from her home but accepted a position outside the home and withdrew the request.
The council approved a building permit submitted by Steven Carver for an 8‑by‑8‑foot deck at 106 3rd Avenue after finding the planned deck to be within allowed limits; the motion to approve was made by Council member Bunting and seconded by Juel, and the roll call vote was unanimous.
Under old business, the council noted that a white truck on the city lot had been towed and two other vehicle owners had been contacted by Police Chief Mike Ball. Public works mowed the yard at 210 Park and the bill for that work has been sent to the property owner. Clerk Mary Pothast asked to attend a GIS & Mapping course (July 24) using only the $100 mapping class rather than the full academy; the council approved the request (mover: Stahl; second: C. White). The council adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
