Greeneview Local board selects Shore Architects to lead elementary and middle school roof projects

The Greeneview Local Board of Education voted June 25 to select Shore Architects Inc. to develop plans and oversee bidding for the district's elementary and middle school roof projects. The resolution authorizes negotiation and execution of an agreement with the firm and passed unanimously among members present.
Superintendent Dr. Wingerd described a competitive RFQ process in which nine firms expressed interest and three — Shore, VSWC and LWC — were interviewed. "Shore Architects were selected as the firm which in my mind had the most experience in K–12 schools," he said, noting the firm toured district facilities and appeared committed to a longer-term partnership.
Dr. Wingerd said Shore will perform investigative work (on-site inspections, thermal scans and samples), prepare a design plan and then support the district's bid process for construction contractors. "In order to do this right it's just going to take longer time than that," he said, adding that the district decided to plan the work for next summer to avoid disrupting classes and to seek better contractor availability and pricing.
Board members approved the resolution as part of new-business items on the agenda; no dollar amounts or contract terms were disclosed in the meeting packet. Next steps: the district will negotiate an agreement with Shore Architects, receive a design proposal, and then solicit contractor bids for the construction phase.
