Commissioner Steve Halmi raised the topic of AI data center developments during the West Mead Township Planning Commission meeting on April 30, 2026 and said the township's existing Zoning Ordinance specifically provides for such facilities as permitted uses in the LI (Light Industrial) district. He added that larger buildings would trigger Land Development Plan requirements under existing rules. The commission agreed no additional discussion or ordinance changes were necessary at this time.
