Stronach planning commission to begin methodical Master Plan update; county files sought

Commissioner Ted Batzer called the Stronach Township Planning Commission to order April 1 and the commission moved to begin a methodical update of the township’s 2013 Master Plan.
Public attendee Phil Vadeboncoeur told commissioners he has a clean hard copy of the 2013 Master Plan that could be used as a working document. Commissioners said locating a digital file and the plan’s original graphics (maps and photos) would make updating easier; Secretary Daniel Landis was asked to contact Manistee County Planning Director Katie Gruenberg to determine whether the county holds electronic files or original artwork.
Why it matters: a Master Plan guides land-use decisions, infrastructure priorities and zoning updates. Commissioners said they will go through the proposed changes over the next one or two meetings to produce a single, marked-up copy the secretary can follow when preparing the update.
Commissioners discussed how best to organize the work: reviewing changes item by item and consolidating edits into one marked-up copy to avoid inconsistent versions. Zoning Administrator Larry Thompson had left copies of other materials for the commission to review while he attended to other duties, but he was not present at the meeting.
The commission scheduled the Master Plan review to continue at upcoming meetings and listed it among the top items for the next agenda. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
