He said the department has two full-time office staff and five department employees overall and is seeking to begin recruitment early to allow time for training and a smoother transition. Committee members asked whether an internal promotion was possible; Wendorf said that was a possibility.
Committee member S3 moved to lift the hiring freeze; S2 seconded. The Chair called the ayes and the motion carried by voice vote.
Next steps: The Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss the position at its next meeting and staff will begin recruitment if the hiring freeze removal is finalized.
