Redevelopment commission seeks developer for bank building; bids due late March

The county’s redevelopment commission has issued requests for proposals to find a developer for the former bank building, and it plans to select a developer who will finance and carry out redevelopment, the chair said at the Feb. 10 meeting.
The commission retained officers from the prior year, intends to pursue demolition of the drive-through at the bank site and issued RFPs for design and redevelopment work. Bids and proposals are due in late March, and the commission scheduled site tours for interested bidders to meet with county staff and view the facility.
The county plans to use a build-off transfer approach in which the selected developer would take primary responsibility for financing and executing the project and the redevelopment commission would reimburse the developer over time. Commissioners emphasized they will select a developer and then complete the project design and details with that firm.
No award was made at the meeting; staff said they will review proposals and return with a recommendation when the review is complete.
