DDA outlines development plan for Chamberlain Path area; board backs presentation and seeks updates

The Downtown Development Authority presented a proposal to develop the western portion of the Chamberlain Path property adjacent to the Village Hall, and the Parks and Recreation Board reviewed and approved the presentation for forwarding to the Village Council. Jim Dygas presented the plan on behalf of the DDA and emphasized the area west of the previously approved rain garden as the principal focus.
The proposal received the board’s endorsement to be shared with the Village Council; board members asked to be kept informed as the DDA moves the plan forward. The board did not adopt a formal ordinance or development contract during the meeting; the presentation was reviewed and approved as the packet to be taken to council consideration.
Board members also discussed the adjacent rain garden site. Ira Johnson reported difficulty sourcing the specific gravel and soil mixes needed for the rain garden and noted that those supply constraints could push construction into next year. After discussion the board agreed to attempt to proceed with the rain garden this fall if suppliers could be secured but left open the possibility of delaying the project if materials remain unavailable.
The board requested updates on both the DDA development plan and rain garden progress at future meetings or as the items are scheduled before the Village Council.
