Erin Nowak elected president as Three Rivers board names committee chairs

Erin Nowak was elected president of the Three Rivers Community School District Board of Education at the board's organizational meeting on Jan. 13, 2025, after a roll-call vote approved a slate of officers proposed during nominations.
Superintendent Nikki Nash opened nominations at 6:03 p.m., and Member Erin Nowak moved a slate naming herself president, Member Linda Baker vice president, Nichole Cover secretary and Member Julia Awe treasurer. With no further nominations, the board approved the slate by a 5-0 roll-call vote (Members Julia Awe, Linda Baker, Ross Daniels, Erin Nowak and Melissa Patch voting yea; Amanda Allen and Nichole Cover recorded as absent). Following the vote, Nowak assumed the duties of presiding officer.
President Nowak set standing subcommittee assignments for 2025: Curriculum (Melissa Patch, chair), Facilities (Linda Baker, chair), Finance (Julia Awe, chair), Human Resources (Ross Daniels, chair) and Policy (Nichole Cover, chair). The board also named representatives for external bodies and associations, including MASB labor relations and SJCISD School Board Association seats and alternates.
The appointments were made as part of the organizational portion of the meeting; no alternate or contested nominations were recorded. The board adopted the 2025 meeting calendar later in the session and President Nowak noted that approved dates will be posted online and at the central office.
