Town meeting approved Article 16D to fund replacement of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at Fisk Elementary School. Public Facilities Director Mike Cronin explained the request is prompted by equipment past useful life (about 20 years) and that the scope includes replacing fossil‑fuel rooftop energy recovery units with all‑electric equipment, and upsizing electrical infrastructure where required. The appropriation is $4,565,000, to be funded from a mix of unreserved fund balance, a tax‑levy contribution and prior bond proceeds.
Cronin said the work will be phased over two summers (2026–27) to mirror the Harrington project and limit operational disruptions. Committees — Select Board, Capital Expenditures Committee and the Appropriation Committee — all recommended approval, and town meeting carried the article in a roll call vote. The project is intended to reduce maintenance costs over time and support the district’s energy goals while addressing failing equipment.
