Administration and academic leads said the changes are primarily technical and organizational rather than substantive changes to course offerings.
Heidi Driscoll, superintendent, said the revision "aligns with the DESI codes so that we get credit for all the programs we're offering," addressing prior data and coding problems that made some programs appear weaker in state reports. Diane Dempsey, the guidance lead, described restructuring the document to place electives under each grade and to use consistent templates for program descriptions so parents can easily compare pathways. Leads also added clear listings of vocational credentials tied to each program.
Committee members stressed that the committee's role is to accept the draft for review rather than to edit curriculum content; the committee voted to accept the draft now and to review the final published version later. Committee members praised the cross‑team workshop that produced the revised document and noted the alignment work will also feed into the student handbook and school report card.
Administrators said the substantive offerings have not changed; the primary goals were accuracy in state reporting, clearer course sequencing for families, and more complete representation of vocational credentials. The committee recorded the acceptance by roll‑call vote and asked staff to publish the final document and return with a link when the text and formatting are complete.
