Committee approves FFA overnight trip, advances multiple policy changes and votes to enter executive session

The Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School Committee unanimously approved an overnight field trip for 27 FFA chapter students to attend the Massachusetts FFA state convention in Framingham, March 31–April 2, 2026.
Principal and staff described the trip’s educational purpose and fundraising plans to ensure all students could participate. Alice Duca moved approval; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll-call vote with all present members voting 'Yes.' Committee members asked how chaperone coverage would be arranged; administrators said chaperone ratios are typically about 10 to 1 and that fundraising and student-activity funds were being used to offset costs.
During the meeting the policy subcommittee presented several revised or new policies and the committee accepted them for first reading: updated school year/calendar language, a school-day policy clarifying that opening/closing times appear in the student handbook, revisions to curriculum development/review policy IGD, and amendments to the health-education policy to reflect required notice and committee procedures. Committee members emphasized the legal references and the need for a wellness policy, which the administration said the district would form and present through the policy subcommittee.
At the meeting’s end the chair moved that the committee enter executive session under Massachusetts law for contract-strategy discussion related to non-union personnel; the committee voted to enter executive session and adjourned non-essential attendees from the virtual meeting link.
