Williamson County’s Commissioner's Court on June 30 approved the draft 2026 annual action plan for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds and authorized staff to display the plan for a 30‑day public comment period before final adoption.
Sally Bardwell, Community Development Manager, told the court the county received nearly $4,000,000 in requests and can fund a little over $2,000,000; staff recommended 13 projects (12 CDBG projects and 1 ESG project) to be included in the 2026 Action Plan, with an October 1, 2026 program start date for funded projects. "We received close to $4,000,000 in requests. We have a little over 2 to give out," Bardwell said.
Separately, the court approved an interlocal agreement with the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) for a 2026 solid‑waste grant (listed in the record at roughly $23,000) for cameras and related equipment requested by Constable Precinct 4; the grant required no local match, and the court accepted the award (motion carries 5‑0).
The court also directed staff to return with any comments received during the 30‑day display period for final approval. Commissioners asked for clarification on scope, phasing and infrastructure costs for specific projects (for example, a Taylor street waterline project that was confirmed as a single phase in 2026 planning). The motions to approve the draft action plan and accept the CAPCOG grant passed unanimously.
What happens next: the action plan will be posted for a 30‑day comment period; staff will return with a final plan and any public comments at a future meeting.
