Council retroactively appoints Mark Zigler as code enforcement officer despite residency objection

The Borough’s Personnel Committee interviewed Mark Zigler and recommended him for the Code Enforcement Officer position. Council considered a retroactive appointment to allow Zigler to begin training on iWorqs on July 12 and to start regular duties on July 29.
Councilor Osborn moved and Councilor Joyce seconded the retroactive appointment. Councilor Uber opposed the motion, stating he felt the appointee should reside in the borough. The motion nonetheless carried.
Manager Cindy Wells said Zigler would receive some virtual training immediately and begin on-site work as scheduled. The appointment was recorded as retroactive to allow the start of training before formal personnel procedures completed.
