Commissioners approve routine consent items, grants and ARPA extensions

Bee County Commissioners approved a package of routine and grant-related items during the June 22 meeting.
The court approved the consent agenda and a proclamation declaring June 2026 as Elder Abuse Awareness Month. Commissioners accepted a $350,000 ambulance grant that has funded two ambulances already ordered for local emergency services.
Grant administrator Francis Melvin presented three American Rescue Plan Act amendments extending performance periods to Oct. 31, 2026 for: a groundwater storage tank construction (Skidmore Water Supply Corporation), overtime payments to the grant administrator, and Chasefield upgrades tied to prior ARPA allocations. Commissioners approved the extensions.
The court also approved a memorandum of understanding for inmate housing between the Bee County Jail and Kins County, accepted a $50,000 Texas Veterans Commission reimbursement grant to provide housing, utility and other financial assistance for local veterans, and approved renewal of the county employee medical plan administered through the Texas Association of County Employee Benefits Pool for 2026–2027.
Several expo and facility fee waivers (Chamber of Commerce and Khunto Fest) and a bond renewal for the election administrator were approved; an item about the election office logo was tabled to the July 13 meeting for draft review. The court adjourned at the end of the meeting.
