Chairman Roger Meckes led the Penn Forest Township Board of Supervisors in approving a package of routine municipal actions at the board’s Sept. 3 regular meeting at the municipal building in Jim Thorpe.
The board voted to authorize the township solicitor to prepare bid documents for collection and disposal of solid waste and to advertise for 2024–2025 winter snow-removal services. Supervisors also voted to advertise for 2024 line painting of township roads and to schedule 2025 budget meeting dates for Oct. 8, 15 and 22 at 2:00 p.m.
On sanitation accounts, the board accepted two resident payment plans. For account 50E-51-A2, with a $325 balance, the township approved monthly payments of $50 plus a $5 administrative fee. For account 12A-51-FP1633, with a $500 balance, the board approved five monthly payments of $100 plus a $5 administrative fee.
Board members approved a SALDO time-requirement extension for the Eggert/Farnell submission, granting an extension through Nov. 11, 2024, following a letter from land surveyor Jonathan Shupp.
The supervisors accepted a Control Security quote to alarm the transfer-station maintenance shop bays at a cost of $465. They also approved a Kistler O’Brien Fire Protection proposal for annual fire-extinguisher inspections at the municipal building and transfer station for $278.70. The board approved purchases of small equipment including (4) 2-pack battery charger maintainers ($139.76), (2) spinner hydraulic motors ($320.40) and (1) auger hydraulic motor ($182.99).
A motion to hire a per-diem or part-time transfer-station employee was tabled. The board directed staff to obtain a quote from Control Security next month for lower-level municipal building cameras.
All listed motions were approved by roll-call votes unless noted. The meeting adjourned at 7:49 p.m.
