Kitsap County Planning Commission hears briefing on 2024 Comprehensive Plan update; one public comment on FEIS

The Kitsap County Planning Commission on Sept. 17 received a briefing on the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update from Kitsap County staff member Eric Baker and heard public comment on the plan’s Final Environmental Impact Statement.

Acting Chair Alan Beam convened the virtual meeting at 5:30 p.m. and the commission approved the meeting agenda "as presented" after a motion by Planning Commission member Stacey Smith; the motion carried unanimously. The body also adopted minutes for May 21, July 2, Aug. 20 and Sept. 3, 2024 by unanimous consent.

Kitsap County staff Eric Baker provided the briefing on the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update; the minutes record that Mr. Baker presented an overview but do not include detailed briefing text. The planning commission did not take formal action on the Comprehensive Plan at this meeting. The county posts meeting audio and materials on its website for members of the public who wish to review the full presentation.

During the second public-comment period, Mike Garrett spoke to the commission and shared remarks regarding the plan’s Final Environmental Impact Statement. The minutes summarize that Garrett commented but do not include verbatim text.

There were no items recorded under "For the Good of the Order," and Chair Beam closed the meeting by unanimous consent at 7:19 p.m. The minutes document includes an approval date of Oct. 15, 2024 and a signature line naming Joe Phillips as Planning Commission Chair and Amanda Walston as clerk; the minutes' attendance list earlier in the same document lists Joe Phillips as absent, an inconsistency that appears in the official minutes document.
