Wright County commissioners on June 2 approved multiple transportation contracts and authorized engineering services for projects being delivered with state and grant funding.
Public works staff described a locally led MnDOT trunk-highway roundabout (US 12 / Highway 14) west of Delano that is 93% grant-funded and 7% covered by state-aid gas-tax funds; Newell Contracting was recommended for award. The board approved the contract unanimously.
Staff also presented Contract 2606 for a roundabout at County Road 113 and Trunk Highway 25, described as 100% grant-funded; Fane Contracting was awarded the work and the board approved the resolution unanimously.
A separate Maple Lake Township project (Cofoot Avenue) providing access to Sullivan Lake was presented as fully funded by grants, requiring no township contribution; that contract was awarded unanimously.
The board additionally authorized signatures for extra engineering services with WSB on two projects (Casa 36 and Casa 18) to provide inspection, surveying and archeological monitoring due to county staffing constraints and added scope. The county noted these engineering services will be paid with local-option sales tax funds.
Commissioners and staff emphasized use of local contractors where possible and thanked companies for competitive bids that the county said saved taxpayers money. No member objected to any of the contract awards.
